A Setcoin Price Index for Satellite Imagery
How fast are imagery prices falling, and can a simple index track them?
Chapter summary
There is no public price index for satellite imagery.
Key takeaways
- 1
Setcoin proposes one built from published list prices for a basket of products: 50 cm archive, 50 cm flexible tasking, 30 cm archive, 30 cm tasking and assured tasking.
- 2
Using 2026 list prices and Setcoin's judgement of typical prices in earlier years, the basket fell by roughly half over five years at the archive end while assured tasking held its level.
- 3
The index is indicative, because list prices differ from negotiated prices and product definitions change; Setcoin will update it as operators publish prices.
